I’ve been phoning it in for the last few weeks, I know. I’ve barely blogged (and even then, only to work through my post-LOST pain) and I’ve neglected Twitter. While my Facebook friends no doubt appreciated the stoppage – how many ‘Mmm… coffee!’ status updates does a person really need to see? – it hasn’t done me any good. Without my near constant injection of Google search results into the magical interwebs, Mousetrapped sales (and blog visits) have slowed to a crawl, and I have a gnawing feeling in the pit of my stomach that I’m missing out on great things by not talking to you all.
But the novel has been deemed ready for release to the world – by ‘world’ I mean the desk of its first editor, an editor I hope will read it, wave her magic wand and make all my published writer dreams come true – and both my imagination and motivation are sufficiently rejuvenated after a two week No Writing, All Reading break, during which I managed to plough through nine books from my To Read, Bought During a Waterstones Spree and Recently Arrived from Amazon lists.
I also rearranged my bookshelves. Because I live with the parental units and occupy the smallest room in the house, most of my books are in boxes under my bed; they see daylight on a rotation system. Selecting the lucky ones and arranging them just so can take a whole day.
So now I’m ready to – eek! – start Novel No. 2 and get back to blogging. And tweeting. And reading other people’s blogs. And Perez Hilton. And waiting by the phone, rocking myself back and forth in the foetal position while I wait for a call that might not come for months or – reality check – may never come at all. So you see, I need distractions, other than browsing Starbucks online store and fantasizing about all the things I’d buy if I a) had the money and b) they stopped being meanies and started delivering outside the US.
For the month of June, I’m going to continue my Self-Printing Misadventures, with a focus on promotion – what I’ve done and what I continue to do. I’ve also got a couple of exciting guest posts and interviews coming up.
In the meantime, on Friday Trashionista.com (all hail!) posted an interview with me. Squeal!
(And what do we think of the sparkly new blog theme? It’s pink! It has drop-down menus! It’s header is in the same font as ‘Mousetrapped’ is on the Mousetrapped cover! Thoughts?)
