SELF-PUBLISHING STUFF

I’ve been blogging about self-publishing since early 2010 and it’s impossible – I think – to organize ALL those posts into any sort of coherent and/or chronological list, especially when (a) something I posted last week could already be out of date (thanks a LOT, Amazon KDP!) and (b) even if you read every single one of them, you still might not piece together everything you need to know in order to self-publish your book. So here’s what we’re going to do (as of January 2015):
  • Instead of listing every self-publishing themed post I’ve ever written on this page, I’ve curated it into a kind of highlights show, with a focus on subjects that aren’t covered much elsewhere and things you should know that stand the test of time
  • I have a book about this, y’know. It’s over 120,000 words long and it DOES have everything you need to know in it and it’s in there in the order you need to know it. It’s a mere $4.95 in e-book and you might consider starting with that, if you’re struggling with the “how to” bit of self-publishing. (‘Tis available in paperback too.)
  • Please be mindful that some of these posts are years old. The way certain websites look might have changed, or the process might be different now. Focus on the principles, not the step-by-step details, if it’s that kind of post. Use your noggin.
  • If you want to ignore everything I’ve just said, scroll down to find a link to ALL my self-printing posts, dating ALL the way back to 2010. Godspeed.

Wow, you weren’t kidding when you said you had a lot of self-publishing posts!
Guess it’s time to make a pot of tea, grab some high protein munchies, and start reading.
By the way, thanks for putting these in an easy to find place, with an easy to understand format.

    Hi, Catherine!

Just thought I’d share this line from Winnie the Pooh (you might already know it):

    “You’re smarter when you’re pink…”

    Thanks for being yourself!

Very good info. Lucky me I discovered your blog by chance (stumbleupon). I’ve book-marked it for later!

Oh my gosh this is the Holy Grail of self publishing. So happy to have found your blog! I self published in the 7th grade using iUniverse. I always wanted to go back to it with a manuscript I wrote in my early twenties. Do you think that self publishing is definitely the way to go over putting a book on a Kindle/Amazon Reader?

So glad I found this blog. Two of my titles are under a publisher, but this year I wanted to try to publish one by myself. Once again, I’m back to feeling like a newbie. :)

Ah, go on. Tell me what you think...
