The RESULTS NOT TYPICAL Blog Tour

29 Sep

Before we get into the blog tour business, some housekeeping. First of all, a little reminder about blog comment etiquette. It seems a bit redundant to even be posting about this because the people who violate my comment policy tend to be one-off visitors who have never commented before and never return to comment again, but still, I’m sorry to say it annoys me so much that I feel I have to. Please do not put links to your own blog, site or book listing in your comments for no reason other than self-promotion, be it thinly-disguised, shamelessly blatant or otherwise. You don’t need to because, if someone else wants to find out more about you after reading your comment, they can click on your name, which will take them to the link you entered in the “URL” box on the comment form. And anyway, I will remove the link as per my comment policy in the footer. As I said this only happens with one-time commentors (which makes it even more annoying) and as for you, my lovely loyal blog readers, you can just take this as an explanation for why some comments may have “[link removed]” in them.

Anyway, back to nice things. People have been asking about Backpacked‘s paperback edition. If you live in the UK or Ireland, the only way to get it at the moment is to order it from Amazon.com. I very much doubt it’ll ever appear on Amazon.co.uk – Self-Printed never did. (Remember the paperback pre-ordering window? You can’t say I didn’t warn you…) Of course, you don’t have to live in the States to order from Amazon.com, and right now they have 28% off Backpacked. That means that including standard shipping to Ireland or the UK, the total cost of a Backpacked paperback from Amazon.com is around €14.42, or £12.50. Alternatively you can download the free Kindle application to your PC or Mac, download the e-book edition for only $2.99 (ex. VAT) and read it on your computer. [UPDATE: IGNORE THIS COMPLETELY because look what I just found on Amazon.co.uk – I think Backpacked might be about to make a paperback appearance!]

And so finally, it’s blog tour time! It seems to be the season for it, doesn’t it? To celebrate the release of my I-said-I’d-never-self-publish-a-novel-self-published novel, Results Not Typical (and by “celebrate” I of course mean “infest the vast internets with mentions of it so that it creeps into people’s brains and forces them to go and buy it”), I am embarking on my first ever blog tour.

Check out my fancy blog tour badge. Oooh! Aaah!

The idea is that every weekday between tomorrow and October 21st, I stop by a different blog, where I’ll either have answered some probing questions, written a guest post about self-publishing books or shared with you why I am in love with flip-flops. (Well, that’s just on one blog in particular.) This is an opportunity for me to spread the word about Results Not Typical to new readers, it’s an opportunity for you to discover some of the great blogs that are on my Google Reader subscription list and it’s an opportunity for everyone to potentially win some books – some of the blog stops will be holding e-book giveaways and from tomorrow on you’ll be able to enter a paperback giveaway on Goodreads.

(If you already read all these blogs, I do apologize for the heavy dose of ME you’re going to be getting for the next three weeks.)

Below is a list of all the stops. I have another list that I’ll update with the direct link as soon as they come up which you’ll be able to access from tomorrow by clicking on the blog tour poster in my sidebar (over this way –> and then up a bit) and, from next week, I’ll post a blog tour digest each Friday throughout the month, so you can see if there’s anything you’d like to peruse from the previous week’s stops. Do check them out – sending hits and comments their way is all part of being a good visitor!

(If the thought “Why are they all hostesses? Why no hosts?” has crossed your mind, it’s because the book is women’s fiction. And lady blogs tend to be better color co-ordinated, which as you know is very important to me.)

Blogging will continue here as usual so rest assured it won’t be incessant chatter about Results Not Typical for the next three weeks – just, um, lots of it…

So that’s it. Do stick around for at least a bit of it.

Results Not Typical is available now in paperback ($16.95) and e-book ($2.99). Find out more about it here.

I just noticed yesterday that Amazon Canada is now automatically copying review snippets from Amazon US -at last! It must have happened in the last few days, this is very good news for everyone as it’s hard to get three separate sets of reviews in the beginning, and any at all on Amazon Canada. Are any of your tour stops in Canada?

I haven’t paid any attention to geographical location. But Talli is Canadian so I’m going to say that counts! :-)

Ah, go on. Tell me what you think...
